I’m not going to limit myself just because people won’t accept the fact that I can do something else.

Last week I started to feel compelled to show that I don’t only think about British men and their relative attractiveness all the time; I have other interests. Thinking about the other things that were occupying my free time, I realized I was…reading British-authored books and watching BBC shows. So, that’s me. A not-so-subconscious Anglophile.*

In January, I started a Thursday Next “book club” (which, like most book clubs I think, turned into more of a “personal reading list with sometimes input from outsiders”) and now that we’re halfway through the year, I’m also halfway through the series. If you’d like to follow along, or join in, you can find the discussion topics here. I switch from the Thursday Next series to related works, so don’t feel like you have to sit out if you haven’t caught up in the series. HOWEVER, here’s a general statement – If you like books, geeky literary humour** and/or British things, I recommend reading through Thursday Next. Eight books, quick reads, smart stuff.

I’m also watching all of the classic Doctor Who that is available on Amazon Prime. I hope to share some thoughts soon, but in the mean time, I thought I’d point out this:

Yep. I was shocked, too.

*For the record, I love the US and never defer that everything in the UK is better. For instance, just in the categories listed above we have Ryan Gosling, Adrian Brody and Chris Evans. Faulkner, Flannery and Hemingway…not to mention Conroy, Kingsolver and King. The Wire. LOST. CBS Sunday Morning.

**See what I did there?
